Alchemy , Cyborg and AI
Women are contemporary alchemists and AI form
Artificial intelligence (AI) in the most advanced conceptualized technology integrating computational methods and human logic and thought. Humans employed tools from the very dawn of civilization, but throughout human history a clear distinction was defined between humans and the employed tools/objects serving humanity for various applications. With the advancement of AI, we live in a dawn of a new era in which the distinction between humans and tools is blurred and cannot be discerned with exactness. The ‘AI woman’ expresses the existential and moral conflicts risen with the AI advancement and raises questions and thoughts. The drawings are AI metaphors reflecting the integration of the human female body with machinery- cyborg. This underlies, on one hand, the inevitable body-machine integration but also the inevitable deformation of the human body, human thought, our set of morals and the need to address new forthcoming existential disturbances, on the other hand. Hence, the drawings raise unanswered questions such as: will this work? Is this good or bad or
beyond good and bad? Is this dangerous? What the future holds for us?
Alchemy was a form of speculative thought that, among other aims, tried to transform base metals such as lead or copper into silver or gold. In my opinion, women are alchemists creating lives, Confrontןing life obstacles, falling apart and reconstructing themselves to an improved self as an improved machine. Creating gold out of nothing on a daily basis.
